Following the tragic accident of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team, the KHL tonight announced that the league will continue to play as scheduled.
The Kontintental Hockey League announced the following statement on its website:
Due to the tragic deaths of players, coaches and staff of Lokomotiv in September 7’s air crash, forthcoming games in the KHL championship will be accompanied by events of a memorial nature, and light-hearted entertainment events will be cancelled. The championship will continue according to the competition schedule.
The Dinamo Minsk vs Lokomotiv game, which was to take place on September 8, is postponed.
A decision regarding the Yaroslavl club’s participation in the KHL championship 2011-12 season will be made in the near future.
A decision regarding a new date for the postponed Salavat Yulaev vs Atlant game will be made later.
