The 2025 IIHF World Women's U18 Championship kicked off in Vantaa with two action-packed days of hockey.
The first two days of the 2025 IIHF World Women’s U18 Championship in Vantaa showcased exciting action across eight games. In Group A, the USA dominated with two shutout victories, including a 6-0 win over Japan and a 3-0 win against Sweden, claiming the top spot. Finland split their games, edging Japan 4-2 but falling in overtime to Sweden, who secured their first points with a 2-1 OT victory.
In Group B, Canada impressed with back-to-back wins, defeating Slovakia 6-2 and Switzerland 5-1, led by strong performances from Maxine Cimoroni and Sara Manness. Czechia also started strong, defeating Switzerland 2-1 in overtime and Slovakia 6-3, with standout contributions from Linda Vocetková and Julie Jebousková. Slovakia’s Nela Lopušanová leads the scoring charts with five points despite her team’s struggles. The tournament is heating up as teams battle for playoff positions.
