Lithuanian champion earns three points rooting for another surprise tonight
Kaunas City's victory against Sokil Kyiv is certainly a surprise considering the tradition of the Ukrainian club, but from what we saw today on the ice of the Pionir Arena, the Lithuanians dominated the game, scoring three times in the first period with Kostas Gusevas, Denys Honcharenko and Lukas Zukauskas, conceding a goal in the second period, in which however they passed goalkeeper Bogdan Dyachenko two more times, forcing coach Oleg Shafarenko to replace him with Oleh Petrov. In the last period we finally saw balance on the ice, with opportunities on both sides. But never with the feeling that Sokil could turn the match around, as happened yesterday against Crvena Zvezda, after the first period.
This unexpected defeat of Sokil can open the doors of qualification for Ferencvaros, who face Crvena Zvezda tonight, in a match that seems already decided. But as we saw today, surprises may be around the corner
