Rafael Rotter scored 3-2 in the third period when Austria gut the must-win against Slovenia. Now all for teams in the relegation round have 3 points with one round remaining.

Austrian coach Bill Gilligan was relieved.: "Today was our last chance to avoid relegation. We had very good goaltending. We played a very disciplined hockey. Also we had some luck. We got the first goal and put a lot of pressure on Slovenia".

Austria had a 2-0 lead after half the games with goals by Gerard Unterluggauer and Thomas Raffl. Slovenia got two goals late in the second period (Tomas Razingar and David Rodman) to tie the game.

The Slovenian coach Matjaz Kopitar was very sad: "It was painful, but we weren’t mentally prepared for this game. It is very tough for us but tomorrow we have to play another kind of hockey".

Slovenia will play Belarus tomorrow and Austria will play Latvia. The two winners remain in the top division.
