China wins in overtime a crucial game against Ukraine after a game full of twists.
The Chinese national team arrived in Tallinn as one of the favourites, with a roster very similar to that played at the Olympics, basically made up of players from Red Star Kunlun, the club playing in the KHL. Ukraine plays a very aggressive first period which ends with a two-goal lead, thanks to a deadly power play, both scored by Olexei Vorona. In the central time China takes control of the game, scoring in these 20 minutes all 4 goals of the regular time.
With an admirable effort, Ukraine bridges the disadvantage in the last period, once again using the power play at best, to which the Chinese seem to find no countermeasures. Vorona and captain Igor Merzhko are still the protagonists, with one goal and one assist each. In overtime both teams have chances to close the game: the winning goal comes at 62:32 with An Jian (Cory Kane), after a series of excellent saves by Bogdan Dyachenko, who replaced Eduard Zakharchenko after the terrible second period
