The best rivalry in Erste Liga is replying on the ice of Continental Cup and Miercurea Ciuc gets the better of Ferencvaros
Ferencvaros and Miercurea Ciuc open the second day of Group C of the Continental Cup in a crucial game for the fate of both teams. The news of Saryarka's withdrawal from semifinals opens up an excellent opportunity for both clubs to qualify even as the best runner-up. The rivalry between the two teams, last season's finalists in the Erste Liga, is very heated and even on the Angers ice it was perceived
The Hungarians, who were beaten 8-5 by Angers on Matchday 1, has injured Gergo Nagy and Mate Seregely out. Miercurea Ciuc, who beat Sisak 5-1 yesterday, opens the score with Evgeny Skachkov with a nice shot under Gergely Arany's crossbar. Ferencvaros react immediately and there is a lot of work for goalkeeper Attila Adorjan, who has to surrender at 15:33 on a power play shot by Oliver Betteridge.

In the central period the teams demonstrate how well they know each other and the game is not very exciting, with the best chances on power play situations. And with a player more, Miercurea scores the second goal with a central penetration by Evgeny Skachkov. The Russian striker's shot is not very strong but precise and leaves no chances to Arany. Ferencvaros suffer too many penalties in the central part of the period, leaving the Romanian team in control of the game. In the 38th minute, a great chance for Oliver Betteridge but the Englishman misses the cage after a good assist
The third period opens with another great chance for the Hungarians, again wasted by Betteridge all alone in front of the cage. Again Ferencvaros is plagued by penalties and with 11 minutes remaining it is Karel Kubat who finds the third goal with a long-range powerful shot. At 50 minutes the green-and-whites finally take advantages to a power play scoring the second goal with Rasmus Kulmala. After surviving four minutes in double inferiority, Ferencvaros pulls the goalkeeper for the final assault, but were immediately punished by an empty goal from Szilard Rokaly and another scored, with 26 seconds remaiaining, by Balazs Peter
Miercurea Ciuc gains another 3 points waiting for the decisive duel with Angers, decisive for the leadership of the group.
