Shane Hanna won the match and settled the final series with a crisp shot after a drama of gigantic dimensions, which was settled shortly inside overtime as the visitors effectively took advantage of the opportunity to play four against three.
After securing the regular season title, Rungsted beat their closest rivals, Aalborg four games to two in the play off final of the Metal Ligaen. Rungsted had raced into an early three games to nil lead in the series but Aalborg came strongly with back to back wins to force a game six.
But Rasmus Andersson has one of the best shots in the Metal League and last night in game six he showed it twice in Bentax Isarena with a couple of excellent rips and thus appeared as one of the match winners for Rungsted.
Andersson has had an emotional final game, where he had to be pulled with an injury in the groin, which he suffered before the series against SønderjyskE in the semifinals. He has struggled with it right to the end, because the injury went beyond the skating and hurt all the way until Shane Hanna scored the decisive goal in overtime and secured the Rungsted championship.
Charles Sarault, of Rungsted came top of the play off standings with Julian Jacobsen, of Alborg being the top goalscorer.
