DYLAN LARKIN skated through unopposed to rifle a shot high past the blocker of VEHVILAINEN to win the game for the US.
They had raced into a two goal lead after SKJEI opened the scoring after just 50 seconds with a long shot from the blue line and JOHNNY GAUDREAU made it two with an almost impossible shot from red line which crept past the Finnish netminder.
However, with just 55 seconds of the period left PESONEN cut the lead in half with a shot from the left wing.
An even second period was drawing to a close when OJAMAKI took advantage of the powerplay and roofed the puck past SCHNEIDER to tie the game up.
Although both teams had third period chances the game went to overtime and everyone was thinking of penalties until up stepped Larkin.
