Canada has won their third straight Spengler Cup and their 15th overall thanks to a 3-0 victory over Switzerland on Sunday afternoon in Davos.

There wasn’t much offense on the big Swiss rink, with Canada scoring twice midway through the game and once in the third. Zach Boychuk, the Twitter star who joined the team after the tournament began, got the game going with a goal at 7:34 in the middle stanza. Four minutes later, Maxim Noreau, one of Canada’s most important players throughout the pre-Olympic tournaments, got a goal and his second point of the game when he took Victor Bartley’s feed and found the back of the net, giving Canada the 2-0 lead heading into the intermission.

Kevin Poulin was the star of the show, making 36 saves and keeping Canada in the contest during a late Swiss flurry. David McIntyre would help his goaltender out by scoring Canada’s third goal with eight minutes left in the game, securing Canada’s shutout victory.

Canada finishes their pre-Olympic tournament run with two bronze medals and a gold. The team in Davos, however, was missing many of Canada’s key players for the upcoming Olympic tournament, using it as a way of figuring out final roster spots among non-KHLers. The Spengler also proved to be the lone championship for Canada’s men’s team, with their closest chance coming at the 2017 World Championships in May. The team was close but managed to fall to Sweden in the shootout in the final game.
