MOL Liga will start without three teams partecipating last season.

HK Beograd and Debreceni HK. Dunarea didn't submit the apply for 2017-2018 within the deadline and the club seems to have serious financial issues, with unpaid wages in arrears. Dunarea fans opened a petition online asking the for the president Mihai Brandabur to leave while the future of club champion of Romania in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 is strongly at risk of closure.
