The United States of America shutout Italy for their third win of the tournament, defeating their opponents by a score of 3-0.

It didn't take long for the Americans to force a turnover and take the early lead. At 5:17, Charlie McAvoy put the pressure on Daniel Glira, who then proceeded to do a spin-o-rama before blindly passing the puck in the slot. Brock Nelson took full advantage of the mistake, with the New York Islanders forward easily shooting the puck past Andreas Bernard to make it 1-0 USA.

The Italians would keep the puck out of the net for the remainder of the first, but that couldn't stop them from falling behind 2-0 later on. At 5:53, Dylan Larkin took the puck into the offensive zone after forcing a turnover. Larkin then proceeded to direct it towards the net, where Nelson was ready to tip in the pass and knock it in for the 2-0 goal for the United States while playing shorthanded.

Two minutes later, the Americans scored again. This time, Anders Lee received a feed from Johnny Gaudreau and took a weak shot from the goal line, somehow managing to get it under Bernard's pad and in to make it 3-0 for the team in dark blue. The goal was the last one that would get scored as neither team generated any offense in the third, resulting in USA taking the 3-0 win.

Italy will continue their tough tournament in hopes of somehow jumping over Germany in the standings when they meet up with Sweden on Friday at 16:15 local time. USA will get a few days off before battling Latvia, who is in first place in Group A, on Saturday at 12:15.
