A total of over 16 thousand fans watched Sheffield Steelers and Nottingham Panthers share the points over the two games.
Sheffield gained the advantage on Saturday with a 2-1 victory in front of an EIHL record crowd of over 9,000. Robert Dowd scored the GWG on the powerplay to send the majority of the fans home happy.
However, on the second night Nottingham raced to a 5-1 lead and even though Jason Hewitt scored a rare goal late on – his 100th for Sheffield – it was too little too late for the men in orange.
Elsewhere, leaders Cardiff Devils did the double over Coventry Blaze, even though they had to go to overtime to win in Coventry.
It was a three point night for Jake Morrissette as he picked up two goals and an assist as Cardiff demolished Coventry 7-2 on Saturday.
On Sunday Jordan Pietrus tied the game for Coventry only for Guilliaume Doucet to get the ovetime winner.
Braehead Clan had a split weekend winning 4-2 in Dundee with Brendan Brooks getting two but they were brought down to earth on the next night as fourth placed Belfast Giants ran out overtime winners through a goal from Mitch Ganzak.

Edinburgh Capitals have now lost eight games straight after losing both their games and in doing so gave Fife Flyers’ netminder David Brown a shutout on Saturday.
