Miskolc scored 10 goals to Jaca but is at a standstill

Miskolc and Jaca close the Continental Cup round playing a game without real relevance: both teams are still eliminated after the victory of Mogo Riga in the afternoon. Curiously this game record the best audience among the three days of competition. Home team is on ice without Canadian Jesse Dudas and with back-up goalie Bence Kiss in the net, while Jaca not dress forward Javier Luis.

As expected Miskolc immediately takes the control of the game, squashing the opponents in their defence but, as all over the tournament, making a lot of mistakes when finalizing and conceding the advantage on first shot of Jaca with Frederik Di Sei. Only a double power play allows home team to tie game with Keegan Dansereau, served by Jon Booras. Anders Alcaine continues making various saves, none very difficult, a proof of inability of Miskolc forwards. On the other side, Jaca is back to Bence Kiss’ vicinity only in the last minute of period when Di Sei calls the young goalie to a save with the shoulder.

Miskolc emerges from the locker room with a different spirit and immediately scores the second goal with Kalvin Sagert, risks of suffering another goal when Adrian Betran sensationally misses the net before to triple the score at 28:28 with Balsz Lada with a nice shot and finally break through its offensive  sterility scoring twice in 16 seconds with Sagert and Somogyi baring all the limits of Jaca. A good penetration of Carbonell, hooked by Leppanen, is the only sign of life in the first 15 minutes of the period. In the following power play the goalie Bence Kiss deserves applause for a nice save on Di Sei. When teams are equal again, Miskolc scores sixth goal with Adrian Toth, served by Hajos.

The storm over Alcaine goal continues in the last period, interrupted by the second Spanish goal, scored by Montreuil after 4 minutes with a  nice assolo. Alcaine saves all the possible and sometimes also the impossible, conceding the 7-2 to Attila Pavuk finishing a nice combination with Galanisz at 48:40 and the 8-2 to Justin Cseter. The gate is now open and fans attend the most beautiful goal of the night, a powerful and accurate one-timer by Galanisz. Jaca uses up the energies, both physical and mental, remaining at the mercy of Miskolc: the home team decides not to beat a dead horse offering many classy moves to the delight of fans, coming to the tenth goal with fans’ favourite Kevin Dansereau at 58.

Miskolc misses just a game but unfortunately for Hungarians the most important and leaves the tournament with a bitter taste but this Continental Cup is another step in the process of the growth of the club

After the game Kalvin Sagert was awarded as the best defender of the tournament and Attila Adorjan as the best goalie
