Sparta Praha still on top

After a late loss in overtime against Litvinov, the club from the Czech capital still is on top of the Extraliga table, though Liberec and Plzen are approaching fast. Having played more games than the other contendants, Sparta has to fear the next matchups, especially Kometa Brno; the Moravian team literally demolished Pardubice yesterday, winning 6-1 and having a very positive record lately. 

Liberec is also having a very good stint in the last few rounds, as it won 4-1 yesterday against Vitkovice. It is the third win out of four games for the White Tigers, which are only one point far from equalizing Sparta's points. Last Monday Mountfield HK won as well, scoring three goals against the only one set by Karlovy Vary; Plzen and Zlin also fought an interesting duel on Sunday, ending with the former winning 3-2 after the shootouts. 

As for the 1. National League (or WSM Liga), the second tier of the Czech system, Slavia Praha is still at the top of the placement table, followed by Motor Ceske Budejovice and Kladno, Jaromír Jágr's home team (actually, good old Jaromír is not only one of the oldest NHL legends still on ice, but also the owner of Kladno itself), who won last game 3-0 against Trebic, now in the eight overall position.
