Team Canada wins after 3 unanswered goals

In the evening game newcomer KHL Medvescak Zagreb faced yesterdays looser Team Canada.

 
 
 
 

The beginning of the game was back and forth of both teams. Canada had the slight pressure of having to win the game to stay in the race for first place while Zagreb was getting used to the uptempo game of the tournament. In the 12th minute Bud Holloway on an assist by Derek Walser scored a first time. It would take Team Canada another 6 minutes before they struck again. This time it was Stefano Giliati, assisted by Brett McLean.

A little less than two minutes into the game, a chance by Alexandre Giroux was first called off as no goal but after reviewing the situation, Giroux was awarded the goal and Team Canada had a 3-0 lead. During the following minutes, Zagreb had 3 powerplay chances but couldn't score on any of the chances. With a minute left to play, Canada finally got a chance to play with a man advantage but the siren signalled the end of the second period.

The last period came off to a rather slow start, it seemed that Zagreb had accepted not taking home any points tonight but maybe scoring the first goal of the tournament. And with 49 minutes played, Pascal Pelletier got the Bears on the scoreboard a first time. With that, the scoring was done, Canada took home the victory and keeps up it's chances to secure the first spot in the group.
