- If Sweden wins a gold medal in Sochi, it will become only the third NOC to win this title at least three times, behind Canada (8) and Soviet Union (7).
- Daniel Alfredsson, 41, became the oldest player to participate in Olympic men's ice hockey for Sweden. He supplanted Borje Salming, who was 40 when he took part at Albertville 1992.
