The news of arrest comes some days after his resignation as Yunost GM. Rumours are about a fraud in Chizhovka-Arena costruction
Eduard Zotov announced his resignation as Yunost GM some days ago, now his arrest was officially confirmed by the spokesman of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus Pavel Traulko.
"Against Mr. Zotov was opened a criminal case under part three of article 210: theft by abuse of power. He remained in arrest warrant by the time. That's all that I can tell" - said Traulko. According to some rumours the resignation and the arrest handle with the delay in handover the Chizhovka-Arena, one of the 2014 IHWC venues. The arena operation was scheduled for mid-2011, but the deadlines were postponed to mid-2013, then - on November 7, 2013, and then - on December 15, 2013. Currently the onstruction costs are estimated around $ 189 million.
Belarus Federation President Evgeny Vorsin denies a link between the arrest and the arena affair: "I really don't know so much about it, I knew about his arrest recently. I don't think that this is somehow interconnected in delaying the timing of delivery of Chizhovka. It seems Illogical "
