The grand opening of the second largest hockey arena of the 2014 World Championship - Ice Arena Chizhovka - passed on November 7 in Minsk.

The opening of Chizhovka Arena transferred several times from one date to another, until it eventually did take place November 7 - the Day of the Great October Revolution, a public holiday in Belarus. This fact has allowed many Minskers to personally attend the opening of Chizhovka Arena, and not just see it on TV in the evening news.
However, Chizhovka Arena consists of the Large and the Small Arena, the audience was presented only to the small arena.
Large Arena is an area of 36,000 square meters, Small - 18 700 square meters and has 6,300 square meters allocated for the connection zone, bringing together two of the arena.
The concert, entertainment with puppets and performance of Minsk Mayor Nikolai Ladutko held in front of the Ice Palace during the ceremony of its partial opening.
All sting could visit the Small Arena sports complex, which is located in the ice field, as well as a gym, rooms for aerobics and fitness, two saunas, cafes, retail outlets for the sale of souvenirs and utility rooms.
It is expected that the large arena will open its doors to fans December 15, 2013.
