All teams but one have now entered the 2013 European Trophy and here is a summary of the events so far.
Just like previous years the European Trophy consists of four groups. But this season only six teams make it to the final round in Berlin in December. The four group winners and the best second placed team will join the host Eisbären Berlin in the final-6 tournament.
In the West Division Ingolstadt and Färjestad opened with two wins while ZSC Lions and Jokerit lost its two first games. The future KHL team Jokerit was even held scoreless both games against Swedish teams Frölunda and Färjestad. The only team that hasn't played a game yet is Adler Mannheim, but they will play both today and tomorrow.
Four teams in the South Division already have played three games but none of them has a perfect record. Slovan Bratislava leads the group with two wins and an overtime loss. Bratislava's Michel Miklik leads ET in scoring with two goals and three assists. JYP Jyväskylä opened with two wins. Injury troubled HV71 lost both games with many juniors in the line-up.
The only team of European Trophy to play in it's nations second league, Djurgården of Sweden, leads the East Division after a win against Tappara and a shoot-out win against TPS Turku. Against TPS they were down 4-1 after two periods but managed to turn that around.
In the North Division last years champion Luleå opened with a win against Hamburg. Tomorrow they will visit Eisbären Berlin who also won the opening game.
