Last World Championship had a different balance in two host countries
Finnish Federation President Kalervo Kummola has a reason to celebrate despite the "Jokerit affair": the last World Championship, hosted by Finland & Sweden, recoreded a 2,5 million euro positive result. Also in 2012 the balance was positive for Finland: "This was possible because we have organized rationally the event, and ticket prices have been aligned", Kummola said.
According to Kummola the money will be used in the Finnish ice hockey, mainly for the development of juniors movement but the Federation Board will take a more accurate decision later in the fall.
If Finland can close the two-years hosting experience smiling, co-host Sweden has a very different balance: according to economic newspaper Idrottens Affärer the experience of joint hosting IHWC with Finland for two years was a dead loss, estimated in 2.3-2.9 millions
"I cannot understand it in any way, how Sweden has made a loss.It is inconceivable!" Kummola said.
