Will face Slovakia in quarter finals after Pihlström's overtime winner against Latvia.
Antti Pihlström's overtime winning goal against Latvia gave Finland the group win after a some what shaky performance by the hosts.
"We didn’t play as good today. I don’t know what was wrong. They had a lot of penalties, but we couldn’t score. After that our rhythm went bad, and we only had two lines that were hot," Pihlström told iihf.com
Latvia took the lead by a one-timer from Gints Meija but Finland quicky tied it when Sakari Salminen found the net with a wrist shot. On the sixth power play for Finland, Mikael Granlund gave Finland the lead in his first game at the tournament.
In the third period Latvia avoided the penalty box and took over the game and equalized it with 3:47 left when Roberts Jekimovs beat Rantta between the pads.
This result leaves Finland with a quarter final against Slovakia while USA and will face Russia on Thursday.
