No suspension for Kovalchuk

Slovakia's Branislav Mezei will miss one game but Russia's Ilya Kovalchuk will not recieve any suspension for his actions in the game against Finland.

 
 
 
 

The IIHF Independent Disciplinary Panel has suspended  Slovak defenceman Branislav Mezei for a check to the head against Austrian forward David Schuller. Mezei will miss the game between Slovakia and Russia on Sunday.

Russia's Ilya Kovalchuk and Finland's Janne Pesonen was also investigated after recieving game misconducts in the game yesterday. No suspension were handed out to any of them despite that Kovalchuk both knocked Pesonen to the ice and took a swing at a opponent with his stick.
