The captain of the Swedish champion Skellefteå AIK, Jimmie Ericsson, has been awarded guldpucken ("The golden puck") as the best player in Swedish ice hockey 2012/13.
Guldpucken is awarded every year by the newspaper Expressen and the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation to the best player in the Swedish leagues and national team. This year's winner Jimmie Ericsson was the captain of Skellefteå who was outstanding in the playoffs and the regular season. Ericsson is also participating for Sweden in the ongoing World Championship.
The motivation of the jury:
"The winner of Expressen's and the Swedish Ice Hockey Federation's award Guldpucken 2012-2013 is a hockey player of international class who is a leader in both the club and the national team.
In addition to a level of play out of the ordinary, he also has leadership skills of championship class. That was proven in the spring when he led his team to the Swedish championship. He is a loyal player who always makes his environment better and is a great role model in every way.
The winner of the Guldpucken - Player of the Year in the Swedish ice hockey - is the Skellefteå and Tre Kronor forward Jimmie Ericsson."
