Poland wins in Miercurea Ciuc

Poland defeated Hungary 9-6 in what turned out the be the final of the World U20 Championship Division II in Miercurea Ciuc, Romania. Both teams came to the came with four straight wins.

Poland opened the final in an outstanding way and had a 4-0 lead after 15 minutes. Hungary got closer again and was only down by two goals a few times (4-2, 5-3, 5-4, 8-6). Patryk Kogut secured the win in the Vakar Lajos arena with an empty net goal in the last minute. Aron Chmielewski scored 3 goals tonight to help Poland to win promotion to Division I.

China was relegated after five losses. South Korea had a good tournament and finished third. The hosts Romania ended up fourth thanks to a win against Australia in the last game.

As best players of the tournament were selected Ayden Millward, Australia (Goalkeeper), Jakub Wanacki, Poland (Defenseman) and Bong Jin Lee, South Korea (Forward).
