KHL is Lev territory

The Czechs now won 5 out of 6 games. While Dinamo Riga and Slovan Bratislava are climbing in the league table, teams like Vityaz Chekhov and Amur Khabarovsk are facing a hard time.
The matchday started with a 5-0 away win of Ak Bars Kazan over Avangard Omsk. Alexei Morozov (2), Dmitry Obukhov, Ilya Nikulin and Denis Kulyash were succesful for the guests. Ak Bars goalie Konstantin Barlun could celebrate his first shutout this season.
Barys Astana from Kazakhstan keeps struggling. Against Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk they tied the game twice but in the end Petr Koukal scored the game winner (3-2) in overtime for Neftekhimik at 61:49.
Salavat Yulayev Ufa is slowly finding to their best form. Against Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk they scored all three away goals in power play. At 29:10 Andrei Kuteikin had brought Ufa in front before Stanislav Bocharov tied the match three minutes later. In the third period strikes by Denis Khlystov and Andrei Zubarev gave all three points to Salavat.
A strong Vityaz Chekhov gained one point against favourites CSKA Moscow. Although Evgeny Busygin had brought the hosts in front at 1:35, the capitals made it 1-4 until 22:13. Igor Radulov had each one goal and an assist in the turn-around. Prior to the second intermission Vityaz cut the lead to just one before Alexander Korolyuk scored the equalizer for the 4-4 at 47:59 by transforming a penalty shot against Ilya Proskuryakov who only for this situation came into play for Rastislav Stana. In the following shootout again Proskuryakov was in net for CSKA while Alexander Radulov scored in the last attempt to win the extra point for CSKA.
Spartak Moscow lost their home match against Sibir Novosibirsk 3-5. Although Spartak earned a 1-0 lead after the first 20 minutes, Sibir turned the match around in the second period to make it 1-3. Later Arturs Kulda with his second today added another one for the guests. Spartak came as close as 3-4 before Konstantin Alexeyev decided everything with an empty-netter with just one second left on the clock.
Ukraninian KHL newcomers Donbass Donetsk again were not rewarded fully for their efforts. On home ice the team tied a 0-1 and 1-3 against Metallurg Novokuznetsk but Randy Robitaille as the only goal scorer in the shootout won the extra point for the guests.
Czech side Lev Prague showed another classy performance in their first-ever KHL season after the relocation from the Eastern Slovakian town of Poprad. Juraj Mikus, Michal Sersen, Marcel Hossa and Jiri Novotny were the goal scorers for Lev. Tomas Pöpperle already gained his third shutout in the Lev jersey.
Dinamo Riga is quite strange this season. They had a goal against first for the second time this seasn and again they won all three points - this time against Amur Khabarovsk, defeating them 2-1. On the other side they already lost three matches after getting the first goal of the game. Dmitry Lugin put Amur in front at 10:08 but in the following two periods Miks Indrasis and Alexandre Giroux turned the result around for the Latvians.
Slovan Bratislava received another 10,000 spectators who saw a pretty even match against SKA St. Petersburg from Russia. The hosts earned a lead twice through Mario Bliznak and Tomas Mikus but SKA came back through Tony Martensson and Petr Prucha for a 2-2 at 25:47. A double in the last five minutes of play scored by Miroslav Satan and Milan Bartovic gave Slovan important three points.
