French forward Sacha Treille for a hit to the head-and-neck area of
Kazakh forward Roman Starchenko. That adds to the automatic one-game suspension that came with his match penalty in the game Kazakhstan.
The suspension means that the tournament is probably over for Treille, unless France unlikely qualifies for the quarterfinals. The tournament is also most likely over for Starchenko, who got a concussion from the hit.
This is the longest suspension imposed by the IIHF since Sweden's Mika Hannula also got 1+4 games after a cross-check to Canada's Sidney Crosby in 2006. According to the IIHF, this suspension underscores the federation's commitment to eliminate hits to the head and neck area.
