SKA vs Dynamo in the Western conference final

SKA vs Dynamo in the Western conference final

23 Mar 2012 | Roman Solovyev

In game 6 Dynamo and SKA decided the series into their favor by beating Torpedo 3-2 and Atlant 4-0 respectively.

Atlant 0-4 SKA

SKA played in the series not in one way; they can easily beat Atlant playing cat and mouse or can lose a game with being outshot by the opponent. After the first goalless period SKA created their lead in the second. Defenseman Dmitry Vorobyov with a wrist shot beat Atlant goalie Konstantin Barulin at 24:42. It was the first goal for Vorobyov in this year's playoffs. 10 minutes later another SKA player Maxim Rybin scored his first playoff goal. Gleb Klimenko fed up a pass to open Rybin who doubled a score with a tip-in shot. 10 minutes later again Maxim Afinogenov came to the offensive zone through the right board and beat the goalie in close action. The series was closed with 63 seconds to play in the game when Ivan Nepryaev scored an empty-net goal which helped SKA finally beat Atlant in the conference semis.

Dynamo Moscow 3-2 Torpedo

The series between Dynamo and Torpedo was tighter than the other one in the West. Due to non-hockey factors the game was played in Megasport ice palace instead of Dynamo's home arena MSA Luzhniki. At 06:37 forward Dmitry Makarov crossed a pass to Robert Nilsson who with a tip-in goal gave Torpedo the lead. Soon Dynamo tied it with a strange goal after Marek Kvapil’s pass behind the net. Two minutes later the puck after Martin Thornberg’s volley pass touched the stick of Dmitry Vishevsky and got into the net. As in games 4 and 5 the play in the second period became the key moment of the game. Dynamo scored twice to earn a lead and finish the series this night. Forwards Dmitry Pestunov and Mikhail Anisin beat Vital Koval with nice sole moves.

First game of the conference final will be played Mar 28 in St. Petersburg.
