Zug and Bern qualify for NLA semis

The season comes to an end for Biel and Kloten. Fribourg one game from eliminating Lugano.

 
 
 
 
EV Zug - EHC Biel 5-2 (Zug wins series 4-1)
Zug beat Biel 5-2 to win the NLA quarter final series 4-1. The game was tied 2-2 after two periods but third period goals by Fabian Sutter, Damien Brunner and Glen Metropolit secured the advancement to the semi finals. Josh Holden opened the scoring for Zug at just 30 seconds of play. Eric Beaudoin tied it 9 minutes later. Glen Metropolit took Zug back to the lead at 13:07. Ahren Spylo tied the game again at 22:17 with the only goal of the second period.

Kloten Flyers - SC Bern 2-3 (Bern wins series 4-1)

In Kolping Arena the home team Kloten was knocked out of the playoffs. Bern won the game 3-2 and the series 4-1. The guests took a 2-goal lead in the second period on goals by Marc Reichert and Joel Kwiatkowski. Niklas Nordgren gave Kloten new hope with a 1-2 goal at three minutes of the second period. The important next goal was scored by Bern’s Pascal Berger at 38:27. Kloten got another goal at 51:19 when Michael Liniger beat Marco Bührer in Bern’s net but they never managed to tie it.

Fribourg - HC Lugano 6-2 (Fribourg leads series 3-2)

Lugano won the first and third periods 1-0 but what did that help when Fribourg scored six(!) times in the second. In 15 and a half minute Sandy Jeannin, Christian Dubé, Simon Gamache, Pavel Rosa, Adam Hasani and Julien Sprunger changed the score from 0-1 to 6-1. Leandro Profico scored both goals for the visiting team. Game six will be played in Lugano on Tuesday.

ZSC Lions had already secured participating in the semi finals after beating HC Davos 4-0.

Genève – Lakers 2-5 (Lakers wins series 4-1)
In the first round of the playdowns Lakers beat Genève 5-2 to win the series 4-1. Rico Fata scored twice (1-0 and 2-4) for Genève but the away win was quite clear thanks to goals by Stacy Roest, Loic Burkhalter, Pavel Brendl, Antonio Rizzello and Jordan Murray. Genève will play Ambri-Piotta in the next round.
