After four consecutive titles, USA giving way to Sweden. Czech Republic finishes last
Sweden won U18 5 Nations Tournament in Pori (FIN) netted a perfect record, including a 4-2 victory against champion USA and a 3-2 success in decisive match against host Finland, leaving them with silver medal. Frolunda's Sebastian Collenberg and Djurgården's Alexander Wennberg were the standard bearers of Sweden success. Wennberg scored an hattrick in opening day victory against disappointing Russia - just one victory for Russian - while Collenberg finished second in scoring leaders standing, helping his team with two goals and five assists. Finland keeps a perfect record, including an amazing 4-0 against USA, until last game, lost despite opening goal by tournament top scorer, Jokerit forward Teuvo Teravainen. Disastrous tournament for Czech Republic, closing with a shameful 0-4 record. Title holder USA captures bronze with a 3-0 victory against Russia in last round. "I'm proud of how our guys came out and played today," said US coach Danton Cole. "Obviously we would have liked to win the tournament, but this experience will help better our team in the future."
