Slovakia wins BelSwissBank Cup

On Saturday Slovakia defeated host Belarus 5-1 to win the tournament. Switzerland third after close win against Germany.

3rd place: Switzerland - Germany 1:0

The game started with a fast goal by the Swiss national team after only 2:20 through Michael Liniger. In front of 2,345 spectators both sides had lots of good opportunities but the goalies did everything to avoid another goal so that Switzerland won the game with the minimum distance. Leonardo Genoni earned a shutout with 24 saves while on the other side Dennis Endras also had a good day with 35 saves of the 36 shots on goal he faced. For Germany it was the second consecutive game without scoring a single goal after their 0-4 defeat in the tournament opener against Belraus while Switzerland stopped a three-game losing streak against their northern neighbours.

Final: Belarus - Slovakia 1:5

A crowd of 10,320 came to see the game of hosts Belarus against Slovakia. The match couldn't have started better for the guests who were brought in front by Vladimir Dravecky already after 23 seconds. The begin of the first period should become a total disaster for Belarus as Juraj Mikus and Adam Lapsanski get a comfortable three-goal lead for the Slovaks. At least there was a reaction by the hosts when Aleksandr Kvitarov cut the lead to two still in the eighth minute of play. Early in the second Kristian Kudroc decided the game in favour of Slovakia and with 5:46 left to play in the third Marcel Hascak made the result more than clear. With 8-2 goals in their two BelSwissBank matches the Slovaks dominated the tournament which they therefore deserved to win.
