Dark week for HC Kosice

A short recap of what happend in the Slovak Extraliga during the past week.

The first-place team in the league standings and three-time defending champion HC Kosice lost all three games last week. After a home loss against HK 36 Skalice, they also lost games at Trencin and Nitra. The result is that second-place HC Slovan Bratislava has overtaken Kosice. The battle for third place continues, as HK 36 Skalica and HK Poprad are now tied, but not far away from second place. MSHK Zilina overtook Dukla Trencin and HKM Zvolen and have settled down in fifth place. In the battle to avoid last place, HK Nitra is still in good position of avoiding it after winning one more game than MHC Martin.

Only eight rounds remain in the regular season. There is now a one week break due to the national team's schedule, and then the Slovak Tipsport Extraliga will resume on February 14.
