Dominik Hasek added his 7th shut-out of the season (4th in January!) to celebrate his 46th birthday on Saturday. He helped Spartak Moscow to win 7-0 in Khabarovsk and will aspire for the incredible 3rd award Goalie of the Week in the Russian Continental Hockey league in January. Czech national coach Alois Hadamczik said he strongly thinks about recalling Hasek for the national team games including the 2011 IIHF World Championship. The Czech team for LG Sweden Hockey Games will be named on Tuesday.

Last thursday Avangard Omsk shootout victory versus Barys Astana was the game n° 600 in the club for defender Dmitri Ryabykin. He is the fourth player to reach this milestone in club history. In 600 games he scored 80 goals and served 159 assists. In the same game Jaromir Jagr noted his 200 point in 205 caps for Avangard

The first games of the Asian Winter Games were played today. Kyrgyzstan beat Thailand 15-4. Malaysia embarresed Bahrain 25-0. Mongolia got a 3-2 win against Kuwait.

Sunday´s Slovak Extraliga game result from match between Bánská Bystrica and Nitra (2:0) was cancelled by the league comission because of an unauthorized start of a Nitra player, Martin Hlavačka. Hlavačka has played this game although he was automatically suspended for one game when he recieved the 5th major penalty in the season. Because the guilt was on Nitra's side, there will be no change in the league standings table, just the result of this game was changed to a 5:0 Bánská Bystica's win by forfeit.

For the Kloten Flyers forward Marcel Jenni the season is definitely over. After the pain in his knee increased again, a new check-up was made today. After consultation with the physicians and the club leaders, Jenni decided to undergo a knee surgery.

Washington Capitals forward Alexander Semin signs a one-year contract extension with a raise of $700,000 from this season. The new deal is worth $6.7 million.
Semin, currently sidelined due to injury, scored 18 goals and served 17 assists in 39 games this season

After 2 months at the bench of Dizel Penza, head coach Sergei Ivanov resigned today."When I arrived, I realized the team was in a psychological crisis, but hoped to rectify the situation. With my regret, I was not able to stabilize the team play, and therefore decided to resign as head coach. I want to thank for the cooperation with the administration, coaching staff and players", declares Ivanov, appointed in early December to replace fired Victor Korolev. New coach is Viktor Bogatyrev, who was until now coaching the 2nd team.

Riku-Petteri Lehtonen is no longer the head coach of TPS Turku in the SM-Liiga. Last in the league, TPS announced Jukka Koivu as new head coach, while Seppo Suoraniemi has been appointed assistant coach, replacing Antti Aalto.
Koivu - father of Anaheim Ducks Saku and Minnesota Wild Mikko - was previously TPS coach between 2003 and 2005.
