In the U20 Super Challenge match on August 14, 2024, France defeated Hungary 4-2 at Löfbergs Arena. The game started with France taking an early lead in the first period, scoring three goals by Arthur Delvaille, Maxime Toukmatchev, and Nathan Riu. Hungary responded late in the period with goals from Doman Szongoth and Krisztián Franyó, bringing the score to 3-2. In an intense U17 National Team match between Switzerland and Czechia at the Zimný štadión Pieštany, Switzerland emerged victorious with a 5-3 win. The Swiss team took an early lead, scoring three goals within the first ten minutes, courtesy of Sol Fueter, Julian Fuhrer, and Maxime Sauthier. They extended their lead to 4-0 with a power play goal by Fabrice Bouvard in the second period.

Czechia fought back in the third period, narrowing the gap with three goals, including two on power plays by Simon Katolicky and Ondrej Ruml. However, Switzerland sealed the win with a second goal from Sol Fueter shortly after Czechia's third goal. Despite Czechia outshooting Switzerland 36-20, Swiss goaltender Yannis Zambelli's strong performance, saving 91.67% of shots, was crucial to Switzerland's victory.

In the opening game of the U20 Super Challenge in Karlstad, Sweden, France U20 beat Italy U20 7-1.

Despite Italy taking an early lead in the first period, France quickly bounced back, tying the game in the second period and then taking control. The third period saw France explode with five more goals, led by Robinson Djian's hat-trick and Maxime Toukmatchev's late tally. France outshot Italy 61-17.

U20 teams of Hungary, Färjestad, BIK Karlskoga and Vålerenga also participate in the tournament.

11 Aug 2024, 20:49 | Watersley U20 Ice Hockey Tournament

The Watersley U20 Ice Hockey Tournament took place from August 9 to 11 at the Glanerbrook Ice Rink in Geleen, Netherlands, featuring four teams: Belgium, Great Britain, the Netherlands, and the Kölner Hale U20 team from Germany. The German team won all three games. Great Britain beat Belgium 4-0 and Netherlands 5-1. Netherlands beat Belgium 4-3.

Köln's Elias Aul was the top scorer with 6 goals and 2 assists. Finley Bradon lead Great Britain in scoring (3+1). Jaidy van Mourik was the leading Dutch scorer (1+2) while Lander Paulissen and Tobi Gentry were tied leaders of the Belgian team (2+0).

06 Aug 2024, 14:46 | Novosibirsk to host 2025 KHL All-Star Game

The KHL has officially announced that the 2025 Hockey Stars Week will be held in Novosibirsk at the Sibir Arena, which can accommodate more than 10,000 spectators.

Novosibirsk Oblast will become the seventh region to host the Hockey All-Star Week.
The MHL Challenge Cup will be held on February 1, 2025, and the KHL All-Star Game will be held on February 8-9.

Novosibirsk will be the easternmost point where the MHL Challenge Cup and KHL All-Star Game have been held.

Patrick Thoresen, the 40-year-old Norwegian forward and recent national champion with Storhamar, has signed with Djurgården of HockeyAllsvenskan.

Thoresen, who will turn 41 in November, previously played for Djurgården from 2003-2006 and in the 2015-2016 season. Known for his leadership and performance, he made 48 points in 49 games during his last stint in the SHL and recently impressed at the World Championship.

This move follows Djurgården's earlier acquisition of another veteran, Dick Axelsson.

USA Blue dominated Sweden with a decisive 7-2 victory at the USA Hockey Arena.

USA Blue opened strong, leading 3-0 after the first period with goals from Max Plante, Brandon Svoboda, and Brodie Ziemer. Gabriel Perreault scored twice, extending the lead to 5-0 by the second period. Lukas Fischer and Oliver Moore added goals in the third period, making it 7-0.

Sweden managed two late goals from Isac Hedqvist and Jack Berglund.

In the opening game of the World Junior Summer Showcase on July 28, 2024, Team USA White edged out Finland with a 3-2 victory.

Joona Saarelainen scored twice for Finland, putting them ahead early and again in the second period. Quentin Musty and Cole Hutson scored for the USA to tie the game twice. The decisive goal came from James Reeder with just under a minute left, assisted by Hutson. Team USA had a stronger showing in shots, with a total of 25 compared to Finland's 19.

Switzerland and the Czech Republic faced off in a U20 hockey friendly at Vierumäki. The match, attended by 80 spectators, saw Switzerland triumph with a final score of 4-2.

The Czech team took an early lead, scoring twice. Miroslav Holinka and Petr Sikora netted the goals, giving the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

Switzerland responded strongly with three unanswered goals. Rafael Meier (x2) and Eric Schneller found the net, turning the game around.

Switzerland secured their victory with a final goal by Jan Dorthe, who scored on an empty net.

The Executive committee of the Belarusian Hockey Federation approved the composition of Extra League participants for the 2024/25 season

In the new season, 14 teams will take part in the tournament: Aviator (Baranovichi); Brest; Vitebsk; Gomel; Dinamo-Molodechno; Lida; Lokomotiv (Orsha); Mogilev; Metallurg (Zhlobin); Neman (Grodno); Khimik (Novopolotsk); Shakhtyor (Soligorsk); Yunost (Minsk) and Slavutich from Russian city of Smolensk

Aviator has joined the league. For three years, the Baranovichi club may not have a farm club in the top league.

02 Jul 2024, 09:14 | Kazakhstan Cup calendar unveiled

The calendar for the 2024 Kazakhstan Cup was unveiled: the competition willstart on August 22, with the 11 clubs partecipants splitted in two Groups, held in Ust-Kamenogorsk and Karaganda. The first two of each group advance to semifinals, played, as the final, in Ust-Kamenogorsk

In the Group A, held in Ust-Kamenogorsk, will play the current champion Arlan Kokshetau, HK Aktobe, host Torpedo, Beibarys Atyrau, Kulager Petropavlovsk and Almaty.

The Group B in Karaganda will feature Continental Cup champion Nomad Astana, Saryarka, Cup holder Humo Tashkent, Gornyak Rudny and Ertis Pavlodar.

The 2024-2025 edition of Russian 2nd Division (VHL) will count with a record of 33 clubs.
Four new clubs enter in the league: Magnitka Magnitogorsk, Olimpia Kirovo-Chepetsk, Torpedo-Gorky Nizhny Novgorod and Yunison Moscow.

The 2024-2025 season will begin on September 1 and will last until May 31

10 May 2024, 11:26 | Turkey plans to enter clubs in the KHL, VHL and MHL

The Turkish Hockey Federation plans to enter clubs into the KHL, VHL and MHL.

- Yes, we have such plans, because we need to fill our arenas. Over the past 20 years, more than 25 new arenas have been built in Turkey where hockey can be developed, and we are actively moving in this direction - said Halit Albayrak, President of the Turkish Hockey Federation.

On May 9, the Russian Hockey Federation and the Turkish Hockey Federation signed a memorandum of cooperation.

- For us, this signing is a paramount, big step. We believe that it will make our relations warm, brotherly and will bring a lot of good things to the relations between our peoples -  said Halit Albayrak.

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A took place in Bolzano, Italy. The tournament featured six teams: Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Romania, Japan, and South Korea. Hungary won the championship, finishing with 11 points, and was promoted to the top division alongside Slovenia, which secured second place with 9 points. Italy also had 9 points but finished third due to tiebreakers. Romania finished fourth, Japan fifth, and South Korea was relegated after finishing last with only 3 points.

The 2024 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group B was held in Vilnius, Lithuania, from April 27 to May 3. Six teams competed: China, Spain, Estonia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, and Ukraine.

The tournament saw Ukraine excel with a perfect record, highlighting their dominance with an 8-0 victory over Estonia and a 9-0 win against China. Lithuania also performed strongly, finishing second, while China had notable victories, such as a 7-1 win over Spain.

The Netherlands face relegation after five losses.
