HC Asiago tried to dig itself out of a two-goal hole, but the Val Pusteria Lupi held on for a 3-2 victory.
Val Pusteria made the score 2-0 on a goal by Robert Sirianni at 12:38 in the second period, and HC Asiago got as close as 2-1 when Daniel Sullivan scored 9:30 into the third period.
Sirianni had a great game for the Lupi, netting two goals.
Val Pusteria's penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as the Lupi finished with 14 penalty minutes.
Val Pusteria additionally got points from Max Oberrauch, who also finished with one goal and one assist. More assists for Val Pusteria came via David Ling, who had two and Giulio Scandella, Darcy Campbell, and Armin Helfer, who contributed one each.
HC Asiago could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.
HC Asiago was led by Paul Zanette, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Zanette scored 17:39 into the third period to make the score 2-2. Marc Zanette provided the assist. Other players who recorded assists for HC Asiago Migross were Matteo Tessari, who had one.
Jean Sebastien Aubin recorded 34 saves for Val Pusteria. The Lupi registered one goal on four power play opportunities. HC Asiago Vincenzo Marozzi stopped 37 shots out of the 40 that he faced. HC Asiago registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
