In a preseason matchup on August 24, 2024, Färjestad BK took on Frölunda HC at Lionshov Ishall, thrilling a small but dedicated crowd of 500 spectators. The game ended in a 6-3 victory for Färjestad, who broke the game open in the third period after a closely contested first two periods.
The first period saw Färjestad take an early lead with Per Åslund finding the net at 04:20. However, Frölunda responded on the power play, with Arttu Ruotsalainen tying the game 1-1 at 16:03. The teams went into the second period level.

Despite outshooting Färjestad 30-19, Frölunda struggled to convert their chances. Färjestad's Maxime Lagacé was solid in goal, making 27 saves for a 90.00% save percentage, while Frölunda's Tobias Normann had a tough outing, stopping 13 of 18 shots for a 72.22% save percentage.
