Game recap

Coventry Blaze stayed second in the Viaplay Elite League with a 9-0 destruction of Manchester Storm at the Skydome on Sunday evening.

Colton Yellow Horn opened the scoring at 10:17 before Radek Veselý's shot deflected past Jeremy Brodeur at 12:42 to double the home side's lead. Period one was called early with a part of the plexi glass needing repairs, but when the teams came back out to play the final seconds of the first the Blaze went three up through Colton Yellow Horn on the breakaway with nine seconds left in the period.

The game stayed with a three-goal difference until the final five minutes of period two. David Clements finish from on his knees in the slot made it 4-0 with 4:04 remaining in the period, while Kim Tallberg made it five when he was left alone in front of Brodeur on the powerplay at 39:14. The home side weren't done for the period, though, and added their sixth of the night through Mitch Cook in close at 39:28.

Veselý added his second 6:33 into period three, with Brady Norrish's powerplay goal making it eight at 53:24. On a 2-on-1 rush, John Curran set up Colton Yellow Horn for the fast post finish to complete his hat trick with 3:11 left to play.
