Game recap

The Cardiff Devils' doubleheader in Scotland ended with a maximum hall of four points after they beat the Fife Flyers 4-2 in a tight game in Kirkcaldy live on Premier Sports.

After a lively start from both teams, Cardiff took the lead with 11:29 on the board - a smart play from Justin Crandall finding Brodie Reid all alone at the back post to slot past Shane Owen for the game's opening goal.

With Erik Naslund in the box for interference, the Devils doubled their lead at 13:07 thanks to Stephen Dixon who finished off with a simple tap-in after Reid turned provider after crashing the net.

However, the Flyers were back in the game at 13:25 thanks to Imants Lescovs, and the sides ended the opening 20 minutes in a one-goal game.

Brandon McNally reestablished the Devils' two-goal advantage 5:38 into period two at the end of a nice passing play, and the Devils had opportunities to extend that lead with a couple of penalties on the Flyers but to no avail.

The Flyers came out hard in the third period and had several opportunities to cut the deficit back to one, only for Taran Kozun to come with a couple of big saves for the Devils. Lescovs saw his shot come back off the crossbar before Fife did get themselves a goal back - James Anderson with the third shot on Kozun that snuck through the five-hole from close range at 52:21.

With just over two minutes to go the Flyers called a timeout and pulled Owen as they pushed for the equaliser, but at 58:55 a smart dump in by Sam Duggan gave Brandon McNally the chance to beat out icing and slot into the empty net.
