Game recap

The Guildford Flames cut the gap on Sheffield at the top of the Premier Sports Elite League to just one point thanks to an emphatic 7-1 thrashing of the Dundee Stars.

Dundee, who had lost all six of their games since beating the Flames 7-0 in Scotland, got off to the worst possible start- conceding two inside the first five minutes, and ending the opening period four down.

Former Star Jordan Cownie opened the scoring just 82 seconds in, with Ian McNulty striking with the man advantage at 4:41. Ian Watters made it three at 17:38 before McNulty added his second of the night with 48 seconds left in the period to put the Flames four up.

Dundee held out for the first en minutes of period two and could have got on the board on a powerplay of their own, but that missed chance came back to bite when Jake Bolton put the Flames five up. 14 seconds later it was six through Kyle Locke.

Cody Drover got his third goal in two games for the Stars with their only bright point of the evening at 48:53, before Brett Ferguson rounded off the scoring with 6:23 to play.
