Game recap

Sheffield Steelers came out on top of a big early season clash to go into second thanks to a thumping win in Kirkcaldy.

The visitors led by two after 20 minutes thanks to Eric Meland and Davey Phillips. Although Fife pulled one back 33 seconds into period two through Tim Crowder, hoals from Marc-Olivier Vallerand, Anthony DeLuca and John Armstrong within four minutes of each other put the Steelers well in control. Tanner Eberle also found the next before the period was over to make it six after 40 minutes.

Michael Davies and Brendan Connolly both netted on the powerplay inside the opening ten minutes of the final period to move the Steelers on to eight, before James Livingston pulled one back for the home side. Vallerand and then Nikolai Lemtyugov added the final goals for Sheffield, while Chase Schaber scoring five seconds from time brought the Flyers' total to three.
