Game recap

Manchester did themselves the world of good as their home form came through again, beating Dundee by the odd goal in five that were all scored in the second period.

After no goals in the first period it too just under three minutes to break the deadlock in period two – Mike Hammond with a slapshot past Pontus Sjögren to put the Storm ahead. They made it two ay 6:34, Riley Stadel’s wrist shot from the edge of the circle leaving the Stars’ netminder with little chance to double the host’s advantage. With 4:22 left in the middle session, Chris Auger made it 3-0 and Ryan Finnerty’s side looked to be heading for a comfortable win.

The Stars however made their hosts work for the win, pulling a goal back only 42 seconds later as Matt Marquardt hunted down his own rebound to slot pass Matt Gin and get his side back in the game. The visitors then got themselves back to within one with 1:56 left in period two, the Storm failing to clear while shorthanded, and some nice Stars’ passing eventually allowing Brian Hart to slap the puck home from close range. Coach Pacha pulled his goalie late in the final period, but the Stars were unable to find an equaliser and the Storm ended their losing streak with an important home win.
