Game recap

Returning to home ice after last weekend’s trip to Belfast, Sheffield were stunned by a Dundee Stars side that gave Omar Pacha his first coaching win over the Steelers at the thirtieth attempt!

An early Favrizio Ricci powerplay goal put Dundee ahead after 2:09, and with 6:39 on the clock the Stars led by two at the Fly DSA Arena thanks to Drydn Dow. Mark Matheson brought the score back to 2-1 at 13:08, but the Stars would lead by two at the break thanks to Ricci again making it 3-1.

John Armstrong pulled it back to 3-2 thanks to a powerplay goal at 37:33, and then 3:53 into the final period another powerplay goal, this time from Ryan Martinelli, tied the game up. However Dundee responded just under four minutes later to re-take the lead thanks to Matt Marquardt, while Francois Bouchard put them two ahead again at 50:38 – both goals on the powerplay. Ricci completed a hat-trick with the empty net goal at 58:20 to move Dundee level on points with the Steelers.
