Game recap

Belfast kept their unbeaten streak going but were made to work hard for the two points by a Guildford side that almost held on for a win of their own.

Despite 30 shots on goal in the opening two periods, neither side was able to break the deadlock.

Eventually the first goal of the game would come at 44:30 through Flames’ John Dunbar, although just over four minutes later Blair Riley converted on the powerplay to level the scores. With 5:41 to go the Flames lead again, Ben Davies keeping up his decent scoring of late with the go-ahead goal. It was another powerplay that did it for the Giants however, Colin Shields popping up with the tying goal with 2:10 to go.

Into overtime and just 1:48 in, Chris Higgins secured the two points for the Giants with the game winner.
