Elitserien round 12
16 Oct 2011 | Fredrik Pålsson
A full round was played in Elitserien yesterday. Top scorer Mike Iggulden scored another three goals and Färjestad took their first three pointer of the season when they defeated top ranked Frölunda.
Färjestad - Frölunda 2-1
Last season's champions Färjestad took their first three pointer of the season by defeating first placed Frölunda 2-1 at home. Despite being down 0-1 and an early 5+game penalty on Robin Sterner Färjestad turned the game around and went left the last place in the league. Frölunda also lost their first place.
Djurgården - Skellefteå 1-3
When Frölunda lost to Färjestad Skellefteå took over the first place of Elitserien with a strong 3-1 win away to Djurgården. Two goals in the first period and a late empy net goal was enough. Erik Forssel scored two goals and Jimmie Ericsson three points.
MoDo - Luleå 3-1
MoDo is still in tenth place but took a step closer to the teams ahead and is now only two points from sixth place. Mika Hannula scored two goals and one assist but his short time contract has now come to an end and he will probably leave MoDo as he wants to play abroad. Fourth placed Luleå is probably disapointed with losing this game after having 37 shots on goal by MoDo's backup Anton Forsberg made good effort when he was given the chance to start in net.
Brynäs - Linköping 2-3
A close game between two teams in the middle of the table. Brynäs was disapointed after some late penalties who Linköping took advantage of to score the game winner on a 5 on 3 power play. Magnus Johansson scored three points and are the top scoring defenseman of the league with 11 points.
HV71 - AIK 3-1
Last time they played 15 goals were scored, this game was more normal with only four goals scored. HV 71 were the slightly stronger team and are now in third place after recovering from a bad start to the season.
Växjö - Timrå 3-2 SO
Power plays, foreigners and Mike Iggulden that's the key to Växjö's relative success so far. Still only six players have scored goals, all foreigners. Mike Iggulden have scored 10 goals and 8 assists in 12 games and are the top scorer of the league so far. In the game against Timrå he scored two power play goals and the decisive shootout goal. Timrå had an important 2-1 lead but have a terrible penalty killing and lost the lead and are now in last place.
