Tyler is the name of the day on the opening day of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga. Tyler Scofiled and Tyler Spurgeon both scored three points when Klagenfurt won their first game of the season.

 
 
 
 
The Tyler's led KAC to a 6-2 victory against the Red Bulls Salzburg in front of 5008 spectators. René Swette made 42 saves for the home team.

Black Wings Linz won 3-2 at home to Croatian side KHL Medvescak Zagreb. Greg Baumgartner and Pat Leahy both had two points.

In Jesenice, Slovenia a Swede both opened and closed the scoring. Patrik Bergström scored twice but the guest from Hungary scored four goals between his goals and SAPA Ferhervar AV19 won 4-2 away to Acroni Jesenice. Istvan Sofron scored twice for the visitors.

For the other Slovenian team the season started good. Olimpija Ljubljana won 2-1 away to VSV. Goalie Jean Philippe Lamoureux was the man behind the victory with 40 saves.

Vienna Capitals went on knock from the beginning and scored the first goal of the season already after 20 seconds. After 13 minutes they were up 3-0 and at the end they defeatad Graz 99:ers 4-2 on away ice.

The Czech club Orli Znojmo who is new in EBEL for this season will play their first game of the season away to Zagreb on Sunday.
