New AIHL goal scoring record

When Matt Amado of Gold Coast Blue Tongues in the Australian top league AIHL scored his 40th goal of the season against Melbourne Ice last weekend he set a new AIHL record.

Amado also had the old record from when he scored 39 goals in just 20 games in 2007 with the Brisbane Blue Tongues.

In total Amado is third in scoring in the AIHL with 67 points. Addison De Boer of Canberra Knights leads with 75 points ahead of Peter Cartwright (Newcastle North Stars) who has scored 71 points.

The AIHL record in points was set last season by Brian Bales who then collected 81 points. There are still four games to be played for De Boer who naturally threatens Bales’s points record and also the assist record that is 51. De Boer currently has 49 assists.

Melbourne Ice leads the AIHL standings with 61 points. Newcastle North Stars (53) are second and Sydney Ice Dogs (44) third. Gold Coast Blue Tongues (37) and Adelaide Adrenaline (36) fight for the fourth place.
