Double wins for USA in Lake Placid

USA Blue beat Sweden and USA White beat Finland when the international play started in the 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp in the USA Rink in Lake Placid.
USA Blue and USA White had played each other twice with a win each when the international teams, Sweden and Finland, entered the tournament yesterday.
The blue American team just got away with the win against the Swedes. With one minute remaining of the overtime
Vince Trocheck scored the winning goal.
USA had had leads 2-0 and 3-2 but Sweden had tied the game twice.
Johan Larsson made it 2-2 and
Johan Sundström made it 3-3 with four minutes remaining of the third period.
USA Blue started with
Jack Campbell in the net. Campbell kept the net clean but was replaced with
Stephan Michalek at the 30-minute mark.
Johan Gustafsson guarded the Swedish net.
Finland had a 2-1 lead against USA White after the first period after goals by
Miikka Salomäki and
Teemu Pulkkinen. After
Justin Holl’s equalizer Finland restored the 2-goal lead when
Miro Aaltonen scored 3-1 a few minutes into the middle period.
Before the second period had ended USA replied with 3 goals to take a 5-3 lead which also was the final score after a scoreless third period.
Tonight Finland will play Sweden.
