Latvian Virsliga clubs meets at the table

Today, the Latvian Federation, LHF, hosted the 2011/2012 season Virsliga directorate meeting.
At the meeting, the participation in the Latvian Championship Virsliga (Higher League) was approved for four teams: Liepajas Metalurgs, HS Riga/LSPA, HS Riga/Prizma and Zemgale/JLSS. For financial reasons there are still question marks for HK Ozolnieki/MONARCH, DHK Latgale, and SK Rīga'95.
In order to avoid last year's final's problem when the Liepaja Metalurgs's second team was represented by players who had played the entire season with the first team in the Belarus Championship, it was decided that no more than three players born 1992/1993 and one goalie will be allowed to participate in two national championships. It should be noted that this restriction will not apply to 1994/1995 born players.
The new Latvian ice hockey season is scheduled to start September 17th.
