Canada clinched a spot in the quarter-finals with today’s 3-2 win against Norway.

Jason Spezza, John Tavares, and James Neal scored for Canada when Canada got a one-goal win against Norway, who once again were close to the higher seeded team. Ken Andre Olimb and Marius Holtet got the Norwegian goals.

"Sometimes you've got to get yourself jacked up to play in these games against teams where you don't know anybody," says Jason Spezza. "It's easier playing against the U.S. and Sweden and Russia, teams where you know all the players on the other team. You've got to try to manufacture a little emotion sometimes."

Canada had a 2-0 lead after two periods and added 3-0 at 49:02. The Norwegians showed high moral and sisn’t give up. Ken Andre Olimb made it 1-3 at 51:36 and 1:13 later Marius Holtet scored a second Norwegian goal.

Coach Roy Johansen pulled the goalie Lars Haugen 93 seconds before the end but the equalizere was never close.

Norway still has a good chance to make it to the next stage. Anders Bastiansen says: "Overall, we're pretty satisfed with how we played. We just have to focus on the next one against France".
