In a game dominated by special teams and controversial refereeing decisions Finland got revenge for last years defeat to win the Gold medal game at this years World Championships.

In the seventh minute of overtime Chabot took a controversial tripping minor and from the resulting four on three play SAKARI MANNINEN won the game for Finland in overtime

After a tight end to end, goalless, first period Canada took advantage of and ruined Finland’s 100% penalty kill when DYLAN COZENS collected a cross ice pass from Barzal to rifle the puck home past Jussi Olkinuora in the Finnish net. Despite pressure on the Canadian goal the score stayed the same after two periods with Finland out shooting Canada thus far.

In the third period GRANLUND had put Finland ahead after converting his second powerplay goal at 45.57, just a minute earlier on a 5 on 3 play he had leveled the scores.

Things looked all over for Canada when JOEL ARMIA made it three directly from a face off with just six minutes left.

However with just over two minutes to go Canada pulled the netminder and WHITECLOUD cut the deficit to one. Then at 58.36 COMTOIS tied things up and sent the game to overtime.
