Slovan Bratislava defeated HK Nitra 5-2 in the sixth match of the finals winning the record ninth title of the Slovak champion, followed by Hc Kosice with eight. Slovan earns a tickt for the next Champions Hockey League
For Andrej Podkonický this is the first title in his career as head coach, he won it last year in Zvolen as an assistant to Petr Oremus.
"The pressure was huge, but we trusted the team. I wasn't worried If we played our hockey. We had a difficult series with Košice and we knew that if we played with Nitra in this way, we would overcome it. It's a reward for the work I do and in which I am striving to improve. I have confirmed that I am on the right track." said Podkonický.
Captain Michal Sersen "Raising the cup as Dušan Pašek and Vladimír Dzurilla, who are club legends, did as a captain it is a great honor for me. I am proud of this team."
HK Nitra forward Samuel Buček was named playoffs MVP. He played 19 games in the post season, scoring 24 points (13 goals and 11 assists)
